What is CIDB Certificate?

From 20 July 1995, it is mandatory for all contractors whether local or foreign to register with the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (LPIPM) or CIDB under Section 25 of Act 520 (Amendment 2011). A person who undertakes to carry out or carry out and complete any construction work without being registered as a contractor registered with LPIPM will commit an offense under this Act and upon conviction may be fined not exceeding fifty thousand ringgit.

Two types of certificates issued by CIDB:

  • Contractor Registration Certificate (PPK) / Employment Certificate (SPKK)
  • Bumiputera Status Certificate (STB) – Issued by the Contractors and Entrepreneurs Division (BPKU)
  • Grade G1 – The tender limit does not exceed RM200,000.00
  • Grade G2 – The tender limit does not exceed RM500,000.00
  • Grade G3 – The tender limit does not exceed RM1,000,000.00
  • Grade G4 – The tender limit does not exceed RM3,000,000.00
  • Grade G5 – The tender limit does not exceed RM5,000,000.00
  • Grade G6 – The tender limit does not exceed RM10,000,000.00
  • Grade G7 – Unlimited Tender

It also enhances the company’s credibility and trustworthiness. Additionally, registration ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, fostering legal assurance and facilitating prompt payments for government projects.

For normal registration, approval can be obtained within 10 days.

3 years. Renewals can be made as early as 3 months before the expiry date.

You will not be fined. However, your company’s transactions with the government department will be void for not having a valid Sijil MOF.
